Fitbit Inspire 3: What Would Be Nice to See (Walking)

Updated July 18th, 2022

I'm wearing the Fitbit Inspire 2 on my right wrist.

Well, here we are at the six-month mark wearing my Fitbit Inspire 2. So, now the question is, "Will there be a Fitbit Inspire 3?"

I searched the web and found an article from TechRadar posted in April 2022 giving some insight on the question. Here is the article for anyone interested.

If the Fitbit Inspire 3 does release, it would be wonderful to see any of the following below for my good old walking life.

Quick note: This is just me thinking out loud, I'm not affiliated with Fitbit. In saying that, I'm an affiliate of Amazon, and you may see links in this blog post. If you click on the link and make a purchase on Amazon, I may receive a commission at no additional cost to you.

A Screen for Sunlight: Fitbit Inspire 3 Ideas

When I purchased the Fitbit Inspire 2, it was in January 2022, which means the Canadian winter was in full swing with temperatures getting down past -25degrees Celcius.

My walking routine was mostly on the treadmill with little outdoor walking. Well, that took a change in the springtime. The weather was pleasant and the sun was out.

I flicked my wrist in the sunlight, looked straight at the display, and all I saw was a black screen. At first, I thought the Fitbit Inspire 2 wasn't on, but it was. No biggie, I thought, I'll just turn off my dim screen and everything should be good. Even with the dim screen off, I was still looking into a black screen.

It would be nice if the Fitbit Inspire 3 had a better screen in the sunlight. Even if the display was reversed, having the background display in white and the text/numbers in dark. Something like that.

The "Side Buttons," Feature: Fitbit Inspire 3 Ideas

I'm a fan of the "side buttons," option on the Fitbit Inspire 2. There are actually no buttons. I would love to see the feature roll over to the Fitbit Inspire 3. I would go as far as to say, real buttons on both sides of the Fitbit Inspire 3 would not be a bad idea.

Alternative to Double Tap: Fitbit Inspire 3 Ideas

In my experience, the "double tap," feature doesn't work very well on my Fitbit Inspire 2. Having an alternative to the double tap option on the Fitbit Inspire 3 would be nice. Again, real buttons might work out.

Magnet-Style Charger? Fitbit Inspire 3 Ideas

I've had no issues with my Fitbit Inspire 2's charger, but I did have concern over the two little clips on both sides of the charger. They look like they may wear out over time. In saying that, the Fitbit Luxe has a magnetic-style charger that fits the back. I would love to see that on the Fitbit Inspire 3.

Display Stays on Longer Than a Couple Seconds: Fitbit Inspire 3 Ideas.

I use the "Stats Heavy," clock face on my Fitbit Inspire 2. When reading all the stats, I find the Fitbit Inspire 2's display shuts off a bit early. It would be nice to have a longer "on," display on the Fitbit Inspire 3.

Built-In GPS or Phone GPS? Fitbit Inspire 3 Ideas

For walking, I find not having any built-in GPS on the Fitbit Inspire 2 has been great. The number one reason is to keep the battery functioning during longer walks (up to four hours). Counting steps has been fine. But, if I was an active marathon runner or hiking the mountains, GPS of some sort would be a must. If the Fitbit Inspire 3 had built-in GPS, it wouldn't be a big deal because I would just shut it off.

I do write about my experiences with the Polar m200, the battery, and GPS here
