My Fitbit Inspire 2's Outdoor Brightness Issues

Well, it's been about six months or so since I purchased my Fitbit Inspire 2 for walking. Overall the Inspire 2 has been performing at a good level, except when it comes to outdoor brightness. So, In saying that. Here is a question that popped up.

Was my Fitbit Inspire 2 still worth it even with the Outdoor brightness issues?

The short answer is no. Let's jump in in more detail. When I take out my Fitbit Inspire 2 for a good old walk around, it doesn't matter if it's sunny or cloudy, the Inspire 2's brightness is seriously lacking. I created a video below to show you what I mean.

Fitbit Inspire 2 Display. Outside vs. Inside

In the video, I take the Fitbit Inspire 2 outside on a partially cloudy day and show how dim the display is. After that, I walk into the house and compare the difference with the display inside.

Fitbit Inspire 2 Display Inside.

The Fitbit Inspire 2's display is spectacular in my house with soft LED lighting and outdoor sunlight in the distance coming from the window. I can see the full clock face (Stats Heavy), in action. The time, steps, calories, heart rate, and distance is lit up nicely. I'm using "Dim Screen," which makes the display a touch dimmer.

Fitbit Inspire 2 Display Outside

Here is where the Fitbit Inspire 2 drops the ball. The display is unreadable on sunny and cloudy days. If I need to check my steps or time, I need to hover over the display with my hand or walk over to a shaded area and keep hovering. I was asked the time once, and I defaulted to my smartphone instead of the Fitbit Inspire 2.

What About Turning Off Dim Screen?

I did turn off the "Dim Screen," option located in the setting of my Fitbit Inspire 2, but it didn't matter. The Fitbit Inspire 2 is still unreadable outside.  Check out the video below, I go into more detail about the Fitbit Inspire 2's "Dim Screen" setting.

Final Thoughts: Fitbit Inspire 2's Display Issues Outside

Well, because of the brightness issues, I've had to start looking around for an activity tracker that displays better outside. I'm hoping to stay with the Fitbit brand, but anything could happen.

Ok, that's it for now. Till the next walk,

Ryan
